About The MPHS Robotics Team

 

What we represent: 

FIRST team 7164 was founded by Miki Oliver, William Tejada, and Brianne Fagan in 2017 at Mount Pleasant High School, a large urban school in the northwest corner of Providence.  The Rhode Rebels is named after the (explain why)  

 

Today, the team consists of around fifteen students and 5 mentors. Members are students of Mount Pleasant High School.  Mentors include engineers from Chase Machine, IBEW Local 99, Hasbro, college students at Rhode Island College, alumni, and other volunteers. 

 

The Rhode Rebels are part of a larger organization called FIRST Robotics (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).  The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be leaders in science and technology by engaging them in mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, while also building self-esteem, life skills, and community awareness.
